“我们的天才儿子”

An article published by Hangzhou Daily has touched millions of readers with the real-life story of "genius" translator Jin Xiaoyu and his father, Jin Xingyong. The story was published on Monday in the newspaper in Zhejiang province after the papers editing team received a phone call from a funeral home. The 85-year-old father asked if the editors would publish his sons story.

《杭州日报》发表的一篇文章以“天才”翻译家金晓宇和他的父亲金性勇的真实故事感动了数百万读者。该报编辑团队接到殡仪馆的电话后，这篇报道于周一在浙江省的报纸上发表。这位85岁的父亲问编辑是否会出版他儿子的故事。

The story documented the life of Jin Xiaoyu, 50, and his struggle against a mental disorder. Jin has been blind in one eye after an accident and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at a young age. To help control his condition, he has visited a mental hospital for treatment every year since 1992.

这个故事记录了50岁的金晓宇的生活，以及他与精神疾病的斗争。晓宇在一次事故中导致一只眼睛失明，在很小的时候就被诊断出患有双相情感障碍。为了控制病情恶化，自1992年以来，他每年都去精神病院接受治疗。

In 2010, he started translating foreign books. Over the past decade, he has translated 22 books from English, Japanese and German and read almost every foreign language novel in Zhejiang Library. More than 10 of his translations have been published.

2010年，他开始翻译外国书籍。在过去的十年里，他翻译了22本英语、日语和德语的书，并阅读了浙江图书馆几乎所有的外语小说。他的10多个译本已经出版。

Jin used translation as his "weapon" to fight the mental problem, and he took care of his mother, who had Alzheimers disease, for the last three years of her life.

晓宇用翻译作为他的“武器”与精神问题作斗争，他照顾患有老年痴呆症的母亲，在她生命的最后三年。

"What Xiaoyu needs most now is a peaceful and quiet life and care that lasts like a fine stream," Jin said while expressing thanks for all the attention.

“晓宇现在最需要的是平静的生活，细水长流的关怀”，金性勇说，同时对所有的关注表示感谢。
